Deep Relaxation At SLICE Yoga Fulham
If you are into yoga (and even if you are not), there's no way you would avoid knowing that yoga is great not only for your body but also for your mind. While I certainly have been treating it as a great exercise for body strength, balance and stretching, since attending a Restorative Yoga Workshop at Slice Studios in Parsons Green with Jennifer Hepton I can see how certain types of yoga can be the best way to unwind, relax and leave the stress and pressure of a day-to-day busy life behind.
Through gentle and smooth moves and with the help of some props, restorative yoga helps achieve deep relaxation and heal the body. As you settle into the poses in each of which you spend quite some time in (it's up to 20 mins for some poses!), the props (blankets, bolsters, blocks) support the body while you are giving it a well-deserved rest and relaxation.
A relaxed body doesn't mean a quiet mind though - in fact, when you are staying in one pose for a few minutes in a quiet room, your head can become real jungle. At some point I thought I wished my thoughts were physical so that I could pinch them and ask to be quiet for a moment! :) Luckily, at this restorative workshop our teacher Jennifer guided the group throughout the duration of the class helping us to focus on what's important and getting into a deep relaxation and restoring the balance of our nervous system.
Head to 2-hour workshop of the best of restorative yoga Fulham can offer - at Slice Studios - when you feel like the world is a little bit too much right now, if you are stressed, exhausted and feel physically and emotionally low. You don't have to get yourself to that level though before you show up for the class - so even if you feel like you could do with some relaxing quiet time, it's restorative yoga time!
Last but not least, when at restorative yoga class, wear something comfortable. I went for my favourite piece of yoga apparel: Wellicious yoga catsuit and Sweaty Betty 'I'm just here for Savasana' yoga-themed top.
Now, lay back, relax and enjoy! :)
