Bubble Pearl Tea Cocktails at Royal China
It’s 21 days to Christmas and the whole 77 days till Chinese New Year. The great news however - the wait is over! With Royal China’s Bubble Pearl Tea cocktails that popped in London straight from Hong Kong, celebrations start now.
New to bubble-tea extravaganza, I was absolutely up for feeding my curiosity and headed to Royal China in Baker Street for my Pearl Bubble Tea experience with Sarah. The exotic Bubble Pearl beverages (£5.80 per glass) are made with fresh fruit and feature lychee, coconut, passion fruit and strawberry flavors, with an option to boost the drink with your choice of gin, rum, or vodka shot.
I was perfectly happy with my virgin Bubble Pearl Tea with Mango & Passion Fruit flavor. And here’s the fun bit: the Taiwanese-inspired mocktails contain balls of delicious tapioca-like jelly balls nestled at the bottom of the glass. These smooth and delicious pearls release a burst of flavour and add some novel chewiness to the thirst quenching drinks. I absolutely felt like a kid who had a chance to have Christmas pudding for breakfast before Christmas!
With a selection of Royal China’s traditional dishes - baby squid, seaweed, chicken satay, vegetable spring rolls, prawn rolls, broccoli and egg fried rice - the evening could not get any better.
