Champagne and Caviar Sunday Lunch - at Bob Bob Ricard

Russians are known to love indulging themselves in vodka and caviar and that’s one of the occasions when I’m proud to admit it. :) Famous for catering to a distinguished taste of eclectic clientele who appreciate love for food and creative take on luxury British and Russian menu, an elegant restaurant with a quirky name Bob Bob Ricard has now opened its doors on Sundays making it an all-week upscale dining spot. Having been invited by the restaurant's effortlessly charming and charismatic co-owner Leonid Shutov for ‘Friends & Family’ Champagne and Caviar Sunday Lunch, Sarah and I could not dream of a better time to spend a rainy London Sunday. Bob Bob Ricard got on my London gourmet radar some time ago and immediately won my loyalty with its elegant ambiance and flawless dining experience. From sipping Vodianova Clear Bloody Mary’s (savoury goodness!) at its stylish movie-like bar to enjoying discreet Beef Wellington dinners within the restaurant private booths, for me it has always been an occasion - an exciting time to look forward to and an undeniable anticipation of getting hands on the famous ‘Press For Champagne’ button. Champaign and Caviar Sunday Lunch did not disappoint.

Unlike one might expect from ‘cold Russians’, Sarah and I had a very warm welcome by Bob Bob Ricard’s senior manager Jade Calliva who showed us to our private booth all set up and ready for our lunch. With a glass of Ayala Champagne Rosé Majeur and finest Petrossian caviar (est. in Paris in 1920) with mini blinis (oh, I do miss the Russian food I must confess!), we immediately felt spoilt and that feeling did not leave us till the very last minute at the restaurant.

The menu at Bob Bob Ricard offers beautifully presented English classics (Beef Wellington, Venison Steak Tartare and Chicken, Mushroom and Champagne pie) infused with Russian flavours, with many dishes having a touch of truffle (which gives me yet another reason to adore this place!). Following Leonid’s recommendation I went for the signature starter - Venison Tartare Imperial made with Petrossian Alverta caviar and served with raw quail egg and croutons and couldn’t help but have a few Baked Oysters Brezhnev (delicious large oysters baked with parmesan and black truffle). These are a brilliant match with a glass of Rosé Champagne or a shot of ice-cold Russian Vodka (vodka shots at Bob Bob Ricard are served at -18C). Following the restaurant’s ‘explorer’ spirit I however went for  a BBR Oyster Martini - a smooth and delicate dirty martini with a whole oyster in it - which is a double pleasure for oyster lovers like me!

For the main I had my all times favourite - an insanely delicious Beef Wellington: 28 day aged fillet of Aberdeenshire Scotch beef with sautéed spinach and truffled mashed potato on the side. Bob Bob Ricard’s generous Beef Wellington portion serves to and is a pure gastronomic heaven. To be fair, all the dishes I tasted here before have been perfect (from Filet Mignon Rossini and Crispy Suckling Pork Belly to Seabass Seviche with Avocado and Salmon Tartare) - but Beef Wellington is still my favourite (with portion so big you can also take the remaining portion home extending your gourmet experience of the day).

Even if you are not big on desserts, BBR Signature Chocolate Glory is a mind blowing experience. Not only because of the perfect combination of chocolate jivara mousse, chocolate brownie, meringue and passionfruit orange jelly but also a beautiful presentation. Eton Mess En Perle -  beautifully pink, gooey and fresh dessert - is a perfect British classic with a twist.

With its indulging food and drink menu, in spacious booths decorated with the finest leather oozing comfort and creating a the right environment for a discreet conversation, we spent good few hours at Bob Bob Ricard soaking in its deco glamour. Genuine and authentic, this ‘The Great Gatsby meets Russian upscale dinner’ experience has always been perfect for a special dinner date, important business dinner or a private celebration and it is now the best Sunday champagne lunch and spot in London. There all week to enjoy, on Sundays Bob Bob Ricard is open for lunch at 12:30pm - 3:00pm and 6:00pm - 12:00am for dinner.
